Article Summary from page 52
|
Amphibians have been around for more than 360 million years, but, if efforts are not made to conserve them, the days of many species may be numbered. In 2005, in response to a chilling report released by the World Conservation Union, scientists formulated the Amphibian Conservation Action Plan, which set up a captive-breeding initiative called Amphibian Ark. As part of an international awareness campaign, it has declared 2008 the Year of the Frog. Tim Jackson reports.
