Madagascar, whilst famous for its unique flora and fauna, is a country in crisis. After decades of economic and political instability levels of income, healthcare and education are amongst the lowest in the world with an estimated 70% of the country living in poverty. Meanwhile population growth is putting enormous pressure on precious rainforest, more than half of which has disappeared in the last fifty years.
Money for Madagascar is a UK registered charity set up in 1986 by returning voluntary workers to fund practical, "no frills" development projects initiated by Malagasy people. Since then it has raised over £2 million pounds to fund a wide range of activities run by local partner organisations.
This DVD provides a powerful visual account of the charity's current projects which tackle many of the key issues facing Madagascar today: food security, loss of bio-diversity, poor health and extreme poverty.
A generous donation from a UK charity enabled us to create this DVD without diverting funds from projects in Madagascar. We would also like to thank the following people for their invaluable contributions to production: Editor - Chris Sewell, Narrator – Laura Sewell, Images – Trustees and partners, Production – Schnell, Sound – Soundworks, Music – Tarika.
