Postage Stamp
A commemorative stamp depicting various means of delivering mail in extreme conditions – including balloon mail (during the 1870 Siege of Paris), boules de moulins (welded zinc mail cannisters used during the same seige), and the postmarking of a letter on the surface of the moon during the Apollo 15 mission in 1971 – marking the 125th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union. It was issued on 20 January 2000 and has a face value of 3,500 francs (700 ariary). The stamp is cancelled with a postmark that is indistinct.
