First Day Cover
This first day cover, issued on 7 May 1962, features the image of a Madair (later Air Madagascar) aircraft in flight over the port at Hellville in Nosy Be by René Cottet. It was franked in Tananarive (Antananarivo) and bears two stamps. The first has face value 60 francs and depicts an aerial view of Fort Dauphin (Taolagnaro) looking northwest (Michel catalogue code: MG 481; Yvert et Tellier catalogue code: MG 368). The second has face value 100 francs and depicts a Madair aircraft in flight over the port at Hellville in Nosy Be (Michel catalogue code: MG 482; Yvert et Tellier catalogue code: MG PA87).

Notes
|
- The aircraft depicted here in Madair livery does not apparently represent an actual aircraft from their fleet, as the first jet to operate in the airline's colours was not active until 18 months later, by which time the company had changed its name from Madair to Air Madagascar.
