A postcard depicting the granite 'monument of recognition' erected in Poincaré Square (later Ambohijatovo Square or Place Fandriampahalemana) commemorating the Decree of 3 March 1909 that – in theory – allowed Malagasy people fulfilling certain conditions to attain French citizenship. The monument stood for 95 years.
