Madagascar is renowned for its extraordinary wildlife, but its landscape is equally unusual. The world's fourth largest island, where rainforest, mountains and desert are to be found in close proximity, is almost a mini-continent. Yet there is even more to Madagascar: the warmth and friendliness of the Malagasy people, and their deep-rooted beliefs and customs centred around their ancestors.
The fifth edition of the Bradt Guide to Madagascar addresses the challenges and rewards of travel on this unique island, with detailed coverage of natural history and local customs, and up-to-date information on the country's tourist infrastructure. Recommended by embassies and tour operators worldwide, it remains the guide to Madagascar for both independent and group travel.
