Madagascar, la Grande Île Rouge, est située dans l'hémisphère austral, sous la bienveillante vigilance de la Croix du Sud. À peu de distance de l'Équateur au nord, l'île est traversée au sud par le tropique de Capricorne. D'une superficie égale à celle de la France et du Bénélux, elle baigne dans les eaux chauds de l'océan Indien, après s'être détachée du continent africain, il y a environ 150 millions d'années. Elle en est séparée à l'ouest, par le canal du Mozambique et à l'est, une fois dépassées les îles Maurice et de la Réunion, la première grande terre que l'on rencontre est l'Australie. Au sud, rien ne vient barrer l'horizon avant le continent glacial Antarctique.
Madagascar, cinquième île du monde par sa superficie, possède une variété exceptionnelle de paysages, dont la seconde plus belle baie du monde à Diégo-Suarez, dans le nord.
Ce livre rassemble des images qui veulent transmettre l'extraordinaire beauté de ce pays unique, paré de couleurs variées et plein de contrastes, de nuances et de subtilités, en dépit de la pauvreté qui y règne et des difficultés qui en découlent.

Madagascar, the Great Red Island, is located in the southern hemisphere, under the benevolent eye of the Southern Cross. A short distance from the equator to the north, the island is crossed in the south by the Tropic of Capricorn. With a surface area equal to that of France and Benelux combined, it is bathed in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, having broken away from the African continent approximately 150 million years ago. It is separated to the west by the Mozambique Channel and to the east, going beyond the islands of Mauritius and Reunion, the first large landmass encountered is Australia. To the south, nothing breaks the horizon until the glacial continent of the Antarctic.
Madagascar, the fifth largest island in the world, has an exceptional variety of landscapes, including the second most beautiful bay in the world at Diego Suarez in the north.
Collected in this book are images that convey the extraordinary beauty of this unique country, adorned with varied colors and full of contrasts, nuances, and subtleties, in spite of the poverty which reigns there and the difficulties which result from this.
