A Malagasy Ariary banknote issued by the Central Bank of Madagascar for the changeover from Malagasy Francs to Ariary as the official national currency in 2004. On the front of the 100Ar note is a view of Nosy Lonja (Sugarloaf Island) in the Bay of Diego Suarez. On the reverse are images of the Madagascar Travellers Palm (Ravenala madagascariensis) and the limestone pinnacles known as "tsingy".
