Stapled Magazine
This issue of "BBC Wildlife" contains an eight-page portfolio of Frans Lanting's photographs of Madagascar. Lanting was named BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 1991, the year this magazine was published. The article (pp. 393-400) is entitled "Moments in Madagascar" and includes ten colour photographs. It was published to coincide with the launch of Frans Lanting's book "Madagascar: A World Out of Time". The images include skulls of extinct lemurs, a streaked tenrec (Hemicentetes semispinosus), a Malagasy girl, Ring-tailed Lemurs (Lemur catta), a Ring-tailed mongoose (Galidia elegans), an Aye-Aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis), an aloe in flower, a deforested landscape, Frans Lanting with a Mikea tribesman, and a Golden Bamboo Lemur (Hapalemur aureus).
The article is followed by a page entitled "BBC Wildlife Expedition to Madagascar and the Seychelles in association with Society Expeditions: 23 April – 7 May 1992". A full itinerary is given of this 15-day expedition, escorted by Phil Chapman, which includes brief visits to the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius and Reunion as well as five days in Madagascar and five days in the Seychelles.
