A colour reproduction of a map of Madagascar by Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703-1772) who was appointed hydrographer to the French Navy in 1721, and became ingénieur hydrographe in 1741. This map is originally from a Dutch version of Bellin's world atlas published in 1750 by Pieter de Hondt, The Hague.
